Heartland Church of God Community Outreach

  • Excitement, a feeling of being overwhelmed, and humility are some of the emotions we are experiencing after returning from our trip to Kenya. While we were concerned about the effects of jet lag when we arrived in Nairobi, there was no time to allow it to set in because we "hit the ground running." The morning after we arrived we started our journey to visit the many churches Bishop Koech oversees (including plots of land where churches will one day be erected), and we were introduced to the numerous pastors and elders the Bishop oversees. We also had the extreme pleasure of taking a day to visit the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

Our group consisted of the driver, Jeff Kironya; Bishop Andrew & Mrs. Evaline Koech; Stephen Kyule and wife Agnes Kyalo; Daniel Monahan; and Tina Packard. Our travels took us to Nairobi, Bomet, Narok, Transmara and Maasai Mara (for the game reserve) and little towns in between.

Thank you for your intercessory prayers while we were two continents and over 8,000 miles away; we felt their calming effect. Please continue to pray that God will direct Heartland Church of God so we may respond according to His will.
  • Each month, Heartland Church of God offers assistance to needy families or causes in the vicinity of Tonganoxie. Examples of this outreach include: a brace, essential oils, and super food to a needy child, winter clothing for a family, non-perishable food for the local Good Shepherd food pantry, physical therapy equipment for a child in need, money for a families with hospital bills and job/home issues, diapers and baby wipes to the pro-life Birthright organization, fabric for pajamas for needy children, Feast of Tabernacles travel and lodging assistance for church members, and funding for a needy individual with cancer.
  • Heartland annually sponsers a booth at the Leavenworth County Fair in Tonganoxie, KS. The booth title is: "What Does God Say About..." followed by nine topics for which booklets were displayed and available for pick up by the general public. Literature is provided on topics of abortion, Christ in the Old Testament, sexual immorality, law and grace, the resurrection of Jesus, the Christian day of worship, end time prophecy, heaven and hell, and baptism. The booklets offered were from Church of God International, Church of God Outreach Ministries, Minnesota Concerned Citizens for Life, Christian Educational Ministries, and Guy Swenson. It is our prayer that God will use this booth as a way to reach those He is calling.
